The Placebo Effect in the Body - Sunday September 24th, 2017
This week’s topic is “The Placebo Effect in the ... Read More Body.”
We have been told for decades to believe in Genetic Determinism. The concept being, that if we inherited genes for cancer, heart disease, etc.. we have no control over it…. We assume we are victims of our biology and that our genes have the ultimate power over our health and wellness.
Dr Joe explains that these are dated beliefs, built on yesterdays news! Not everyone who inherits genes for Alzheimer’s or breast cancer end up getting these diseases. Genes are not eggs that will eventually hatch! Having the gene is not as important as what we are doing that may signal genes to turn on or off!

The Placebo Effect in the Brain - Sunday September 17th, 2017
This week we continue with our book study of the ... Read More book The Placebo Effect. The title of this weeks talk is
“The Placebo Effect in the Brain”
For decades we have believed and espoused that our thoughts are powerful. We believe that they have an enormous effect on our mental and physical health. This week we explore the effect of having the same thoughts over and over vs changing our thoughts and the effect they have on our physiology.
No one ever changes a situation until he gets changed himself. Every outside situation is a reflection of an internal condition.
- Norman Vincent Peale
“ For as he thinketh in his heart so is he.”

The Placebo Effect – Dr. Joe Diepenza
Making Minds Matter
This is a book that I would have liked to have written! I have always been fascinated about the Placebo effect. The effect is proof positive of the effects that we have on our bodies by the thoughts that we hold in our minds. The authors personal experience gives him instant credibility and the back up with the medical evidence is truly impressive and compelling. Skeptic or believer there is something here for us all. I look forward to sharing this healing resource with you all.

The Ultimate Fish Story - Sunday August 27th, 2017
We continue the series on Metaphysical Bible ... Read More interpretation with “The Ultimate Fish Story!” I am referring to the story of Jonah. This is a timeless story when seen through the metaphysical lens.
If you have ever felt like not forgiving someone else and burning with that feeling and or if you felt like you were drowning when facing a challenge then you have some insight into Jonah’s plight.
This story is actually a turning point in the Bible from a vengeful God to a God who is here for us all who has compassion and love for all.
I look forward to sharing this story with you on Sunday.

TILT- Sand vs. Rocks - Sunday August 20th, 2017
Everyone therefore who hears a spiritual calling ... Read More and does it, is like a wise person, who built a house on a rock. The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it didn't fall, for it was founded on the rock of Love. But everyone who hears spiritual words and doesn't do them is like a foolish person who built a house on the sand. The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell—and great was its fall. Matthew 7:24–27,
This week’s bible parable of the Wise and Foolish Builders emphasizes the need to put our spiritual teachings into practice, and speaks to us of two very different sorts of people whose hearts are revealed in their actions. Metaphorically, the rain, winds and flood represent the calamities and afflictions that befall us all. But our souls do not give way if we are founded on the solid rock of Love. Yet, there are those of us whose lives are absorbed by anger and hatred and don’t know, or practice, Love. This Sunday’s Parable teaches us that souls filled with hatred cannot stand, for lives built on the ever shifting sands of perceived injustice will surely topple. The spiritual life of Divine ideas is stronger than any rock; for those of us who keep to Love, even though the waves of the whole world seem to be beating against us, when nations and princes, both our own people and strangers, and every engine is set in motion against us, we stand firmer than a rock, and disperse it all.

Raising the Dead! - Sunday August 13th, 2017
This weeks talk title is - Raising The Dead!
In ... Read More the Bible there are many accounts of people being raised from the dead. Not just by Jesus, but by other prophets as well as the disciples. These are not the only stories of resurrection. The ancient Greeks had stories about the resurrection as well. In the book Autobiography of a Yogi, Yogananda recounts a story of Lahiri Mahasaya and how he raised a boy from the dead.
On the surface these stories seem fantastical. Yet there are people we know of in our lifetime that were clinically dead who returned and are among us.
Metaphysically, what does it mean to be raised from the dead? I invite you to come explore this topic with me on Sunday.

A Dog’s Purpose - Sunday July 23rd, 2017
This Sunday Rev. Pat Palmer will share ideas ... Read More stimulated by the film “A Dog’s Purpose.” We will see our hero Bailey being born again and again, each time as a different kind of dog, as he tries to find the purpose in life. Is it to have fun? To serve those we love? To eat and sleep and sniff??
This film has lots of humor - AND jealousy, bravery, discouragement, glee, love, fear, bravery…in other words, the very things of which life seems to be made. Bailey's connections with the people he loves and their journeys are the stuff of our lives too, and lead us to ask ourselves the same challenging questions.

Finding Dory - Sunday July 16th, 2017
Separated from her parents as a child, Dory’s ... Read More short-term memory loss affects her ability to find her way home. Easily distracted, she gets sidetracked and forgets where she lives. Having made friends with Marlin and Nemo, she was content to live with them until one day a vague memory stirs in her mind. The memory was clear and sufficient enough to convince Dory that she could find her way back.
Dory’s story is much like our own. We get separated from our True Self but the kernel of truth never leaves us. Implanted upon our very soul it is awakened in moment of remembrance. We are surrounded by the exact right and perfect people, conditions, and “markers” that enable us to find our way back home.

Les Miserables - Sunday July 9th, 2017
Les Miserables, is Victor Hugo’s epic tale showing ... Read More what happens when people live with, and without, love and forgiveness. Jean Valjean, hardened and embittered after serving ten years of forced labor for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his family, learns love and compassion for others, while Inspector Javert adheres only to the ‘letter of the law’ and makes no allowance for human needs beyond the law. Set against the back drop of the French Revolution (1789 – 1799), the question we must ask ourselves is whether or not the story is still relevant today? As clouds of darkness roll across our beloved nation, is it possible to live without love and forgiveness? Can we make allowances for human needs beyond the letter of the law and – if so – HOW? We are people who live, cry, laugh, and love in the LIGHT – please join us on Sunday, July 9 to discover how we go on from here.
Many Blessings,
Rev. Medora

Displaying Courage in Uncertain Times - Sunday June 11th, 2017
- Displaying Courage in Uncertain Times -
It seems ... Read More wherever I have turned during the election last year as well as what people are experiencing right now, is a palpable sense of heightened anxiety and fear. I have had these feelings myself.
When we get to a place of high anxiety and fear it can be an endless mental loop of analysis paralysis. This of course, has a detrimental effect on our inner and outer reality. What direction we take during these times will be based, like it always is, on our consciousness and our faith.
As a community, I believe that Unity In Marin is at a crossroads. It's a time of enormous opportunity but also a time of great potential change. I look forward to sharing more with you on Sunday.

What if we realized that true changes, in our state of happiness, is not about waiting for an outer intervention but facilitating an inner transformation? Furthermore, what if we then realized we were in the driver’s seat and it’s up to us to adjust our thoughts, feelings, attitudes and perceptions. When we do so, this brings about the delivery and transformation we seek!

Easter Sunday

This can be experienced without losing our physical life. How often have we died to something old and saw something new be born? Letting go of, jobs, careers, homes, relationships, outdated concepts of who we are.
Some changes come easy and some come hard. What’s on the other side of these changes is a journey. The disciples who were closest to Jesus were bereft when he was killed on the cross and buried in the tomb. How many of their thoughts dreams and hopes had they attached to Jesus the man?
