Easter - Sunday April 16th, 2017
Easter Sunday
This Sunday I will be focusing the ... Read More Easter Story. This is a story of resurrection. But what has to happen to have a resurrection is to die to something first. This can be experienced without losing our physical life. How often have we died to something old and saw something new be born? Letting go of, jobs, careers, homes, relationships, outdated concepts of who we are.
Some changes come easy and some come hard. What’s on the other side of these changes is a journey. The disciples who were closest to Jesus were bereft when he was killed on the cross and buried in the tomb. How many of their thoughts dreams and hopes had they attached to Jesus the man? They were entombed with Jesus. Many disciples actually saw Jesus after he was resurrected. I will talk about one such incident on Sunday.
I look forward to sharing this with you!

The Placebo Effect - Sunday March 19th, 2017
When I was a child I remember going to the Doctors ... Read More office. Back then the odor of the place was for me a uniquely antiseptic smell. I associated that place and that smell as a place where healing takes place. More often than not, as soon as I arrived, I would feel better without receiving any treatment. In fact, I recall having to do a little acting for the Doctor to replay the symptoms I had at home. If I was healed before seeing the doctor what was really happening?
Just as our thoughts can make us ill they can also help us heal. “The mind is our most potent weapon in the battle for health” says Lyn Freeman a researcher of mind body therapies for chronic diseases. “It can be both slayer and healer.”
I invite you to join me as we explore the topic of The Placebo Effect.

The Inner Net - Sunday March 5th, 2017
The Inner-Net
My greatest joy as a youth, was to ... Read More go fishing. I would spend countless hours sitting on my tackle box watching the tip of my fishing poles for signs that there was a nibble on the other end. When there was, I would take up the slack, wait for the tell tale feeling, that the bait has been taken. Only then I would set the hook and reel in the fish. Taking it out of the water in a net. Little did I know that the lessons learned as a fisherman would serve me so well in understanding the Inner life and the Inner-net.

Friends, Our Family of Choice - Sunday February 5th, 2017
In February, the focus will be on Relationships, ... Read More Friends, lovers and family.
This Sundays talk title: “Friends, Our Family of Choice.”
I heard this said many times over the years. Is it true? Personally, I have found that relatives may be friends but friends may not be relatives.
“One loyal friend is worth ten thousand relatives.”
- Euripedes 480-406B.C.
With whom are we friends? Are they people who just think like we do? Are we truly our own best friend? Would we describe God as a friend or an acquaintance? How many friends have we had over the years that we are no longer friends with? Some end because we move on from a job or relocate. Some endure regardless of location.
Sometimes there is a falling out. Sometimes it gets repaired. Sometimes it doesn't. I believe that friends come into our lives for a reason a season or a lifetime. I invite you to join me on Sunday as we begin this February series on Relationships, Friends, Lovers and Family.

Last week I talked about integrating a SOUL-ution to our thinking. This is about lettiing our spiritual self be in charge this year and to give our Ego the year off! This is an awareness practice. I invited us to note when the Ego wants to run the show. Then we consciously shift to allowing our higher self our Spiritual self to be in charge.
How do we make this shift after we note the Ego reaction?
That's what this weeks talk is all about. Refrain, Reframe and Reclaim.

Peace - Sunday December 4th, 2016
How do the recent events — in all of their ... Read More heart-breaking complexity — remind us that we are called to something more? That we are invited to see that the season of Advent is rooted in Israel's and the early Christians' longing for justice, for reconciliation, for restoration and wholeness? And that this longing is not an in-the-meantime passive acceptance of the status quo but an active participation in the work of healing and Peace? We tangle and we are entangled. Like two or more particles that interact in such a way that the full state of each cannot be described independently, the state of each of us can be accounted for only in reference to the state of every one of us. Please join your friends and fellow travelers on the path this coming Sunday as we explore the fact that Peace is not wishful thinking; it is risk and action and the courage to undertake both.
