“What’s Next?” with Guest Speaker Richard Mantei – Sunday September 14th, 2014
I suspect there are times when we all ask ourselve … Read Mores, “What am I to do next?” Where am I going? I seem to be drifting a bit – not clear, uncertain about my future.”
This most certainly must have been in the minds and on the hearts of the disciples. There were times of great encouraging activity and times when it must have felt like there was no forward movement, in fact backward movement.
I’ve especially thought of this topic in the context of those last few days of Jesus’ physical presence. At one point when asked to answer more questions, he chose to not speak. In a sense, all His work had been done and the next creative expression was to unfold over the next 2,000 years.
Is there a “next step” forming in periodic fallow points in our life? How do we acknowledge and nurture ourselves in those times? Can we be patient? Is there something we can do?
We’ll explore “What’s Next” and come upon personal insights leading to forward movement.

Metaphysical Movie Month ~ ROOTS ~ Rev. Medora – Sunday July 27th, 2014
We experience a veritable banquet of gospel music … Read Moreand spirit with guest choir conductor, Ulis Redic, and the amazing Unity In Marin choir. In wrapping up Metaphysical Movie Month, the more I think about it – the more I believe that there is no way to wrap up an African theme without going to the ‘roots’ of our ancestors in Africa, and the ever present cloud and question of slavery. As we consider the historical reality of slavery, a larger metaphysical question arises. What enslaves us – money, poverty, ambition, war, prostitution, class, or empires? What or who do we hold in bondage that “is not allowed to escape and must work for us without any choice involved.” Explore the very depth of our being and come into the understanding that – in reality – there is NOTHING that enslaves us.
Many Blessings,

Metaphysical Movie Month ~ Out of Africa ~ Rev. Bill Englehart – Sunday July 6th, 2014
“Out of Africa” is the first in our series of … Read More“Metaphysical Movie” talks. I loved the movie and felt so connected with many of the characters.
“The film is based on the autobiographical book, “Out of Africa” written by Isak Dinesen (the pseudonym of Danish author Karen Blixen) which was published in 1937 with additional material from Dinesen’s book, “Shadows on the Grass” and other sources. This film received 28 film awards, including seven Academy Awards.
This month we look at popular culture movies and metaphysically interpret them. What is the deeper spiritual meaning of these films? I believe that God does not just show up in holy writings and that God did not stop expressing when those writings were completed. If God is in us, then we are continuing to express God through many creative outlets. Viewing these films are a popular way for us to collectively experience this creativity.

Today Rev. Bill speaks about prayer from Unity’s perspective as well as the idea of prayer being “scientific”. The founders of “New Thought” have said that prayer is a science. This idea has made it’s way into Christian Science, Divine Science & Religious Science.
Learning the “New Thought” way to pray was so radically different from what Rev. Bill was taught about prayer that he would qualify it as revolutionary.

Over the years, I have had a rocky relationship with my own “earthly” father. So growing up with the concept of God as “father” was not very comforting. I did not reject God because of that association, but rather, I equated God with the traits of “The Divine Mother”. Upon reflection, I see that I have not truly honored the Divine Masculine in me or in my life.

Meditation Practices Explained ~ Guest Speaker Tom McAuliffe – Sunday June 8th, 2014
We continue with our Series on Meditation and Pray … Read Moreer. Tom McAuliffe discusses “Meditation Practices Explained and Experienced,” which will build on Rev. Bill’s talk last Sunday. As Bill so artfully said this past Sunday, Meditation is about paying attention, relaxed, expectant, and open to the living spirit of truth. The ‘still, small voice’ is best heard in the silence, in those moments of quiet inner calm. Taking time apart on a daily basis enables us to slow down the chattering of the mind, which can get awfully loud at times. Gentle acceptance and persistence are keys to mastering the mind. Meditation teaches us these keys to health, well-being and peace of mind.

When God created Mothers – Sunday May 11th, 2014
Charles Fillmore tells us that “It logically occ … Read Moreurs to us that all healing methods whether applied to self or others consist in making a unity between the individual and universal consciousness.” That connection between each of us and universal healing is often helped along by mothers. Some of us got lucky and got mothers who would hug us, listen to us, kiss our hurts – make it better; and some of us didn’t get mothers like that. Some of us got mothers who did their best no doubt…..but ‘mothering’ never quite worked out for them. The Metaphysical interpretation of ‘Motherhood’ is the “brooding, nourishing element of Divine Mind (or God) in which spiritual ideals are brought into being.” We are each capable of bringing spiritual ideas into being – so whether we are men or women, have children or no children, in the wonderful world of metaphysics it doesn’t matter.

This week I am talking about “The Wisdom of Joel Goldsmith”. He was an American spiritual author, teacher, spiritual healer and mystic. He founded “The Infinite Way Movement”. More than thirty books have been compiled from his tape-recorded lectures and classwork including “The Infinite Way”, “The Art of Spiritual Healing”, “Practicing the Presence” and “The Art of Meditation”. His many books are the result of thirty years of experience in practicing spiritual healing. In a decided departure from other books on the controversial subject of meditation, Goldsmith alternates instruction with meditation to demonstrate that physical well-being results naturally from attaining a consciousness of oneness with God.
