Intersteller - Sunday July 24th, 2016
The movie “Interstellar” takes place in the distan ... Read Moret future, when we have greater ability to navigate immense distances in space. The human race is nearing the end of the time when the earth can provide for it; pollution has continued unabated. There has been an ongoing huge search for another planet which human beings can inhabit.
Our hero, Matthew McConaughey, is a farmer with his family, in order to help produce food. We soon find that he was formerly a first class astronaut, and is now desperately needed to find the key to alleviating gravity, to allow masses of people to leave the planet at once.
This film appears to be an adventure story, and it is. I was first attracted it to it for its exciting scientific ideas - then I realized it is much more! The underlying metaphysical message is an inner-space adventure even more exciting than the outer-space one!
Through the characters' intense evolving awareness, their journey is guided by unseen forces, so that they end up using three spiritual/emotional paths to success.

Inside Out ~ So, How ARE You Feeling... Really?? - Sunday July 10th, 2016
Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no except ... Read Moreion for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions - Joy , Fear , Anger , Disgust, and Sadness . The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley's mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school. We all learn that sadness is valid, and that joy can become sad too in a sort of bitter-sweetness. Please join us on Sunday, July 10, as Unity in Marin’s own Licensed Unity Teacher, Hospital Chaplain, and brand new Master’s Degree in Divinity graduate, Kris Sullivan, and Rev. Medora, explore our emotions and find that the way is not always clear, but somehow, always worth the journey.

Over the years I realize that I have had a rocky relationship with I my own earthly father. So growing up with the concept of God as father was not very comforting. What I ended up doing was not to reject God because of that association but rather to equate God exclusively with the traits of The Divine Mother. Upon reflection, I see that I have not truly honored the Divine Masculine in me or in my life. I invite you to join me as we explore this energy and become open to its gifts.

“Prayer is not a means of arousing God to action but the process of waking up from our drowsiness so we can see ourselves, not in the mirror darkly but face to face.”

I am going to talk about prayer from Unity’s perspective as well as the idea of prayer being scientific. The founders of New Thought all say prayer as a science. Some of the names incorporate this in their titles: Christian Science, Divine Science & Religious Science.
I know that learning the New Thought way to pray was so radically different from what I was taught about prayer that I qualify it as revolutionary. Listen and watch as we explore this topic together!

changes - Sunday May 8th, 2016
I was talking to a young mother the other day and ... Read Moreasked her what she was thinking about motherhood here in 2016. What she told me was that the things she was least prepared for were all of the changes and transitions. When her son was small she was a stay at home mom and her path looked clear. He is a pre-teen now, times are different, she has a job, and she realizes that she needs to ‘rearrange’ herself, find something that she ‘really’ wants to do, for her son will soon be off to a life of his own. It occurs to me that we are all going through constant and unremitting change. Relationship, spirituality, climate change, and politics – you name it and it is changing. But is there anything that doesn’t change in our life? I would say ‘yes’, but you will have to listen and watch today, Mother’s Day, to see what it is that doesn’t change.

Is it God's World - Sunday April 17th, 2016
Christine Morgan a long time member of Unity in Ma ... Read Morerin, and the heart and soul of our Bookstore, tells me that Charles Fillmore’s Atom Smashing Power of Mind was our founder Candida Wright’s favorite book. In this wonderful little book we find that Charles Fillmore was fascinated by our relationship to God and the Universe, and that over time came to believe that there is a universal life force that animates and sustains ALL forms and shapes of the universe. It was 1949 and everyone was interested in the study of atoms, but Fillmore was interested in more than just the physical power of the atom – he came to believe that by breaking into the power of the atom, humankind had come into direct contact with that primal life force that animates and connects our minds and bodies. So the question is, if we can smash the atom and come in direct contact with the life force that governs the universe, than just whose world is it? Is it God’s world – or is it ours? Join us this coming Sunday as we explore the Atom Smashing Power of OUR Minds as we follow Principle #3 to create our own experiences by what we choose to think.
Many Blessings,

Some changes come easy and some come hard. What’s on the other side of these changes is a journey. We Are Family - Sunday February 21st, 2016
Here at Unity In Marin we teach the metaphysical p ... Read Morehilosophy that we are all One, and for many of us this community is something that we call ‘home’. The system that governs our community is often called ‘a family’ and that can be tricky. For good, or not so good, all family systems have a structure that contains parts that are directly or indirectly related to each other whether we like it or not. As in all families, those of us who have been here for a while all know the ‘rules’, certain behaviors are expected. Our ‘family’ system can be open or closed – an open system welcomes the stranger, a closed system forgets to come early and stay late to talk to anyone we don’t already know.
Today we are going to see how each of us learned to be part of our ‘family’ from the teaching of our earliest fairy tales, through Bible stories, and straight through the marketplace to the current day. I am talking about how being 'family' is the way we all participate in the building blocks of our community. ‘Family’ is what makes us all who and what we are. Sometimes it is a good experience, sometimes not so good, but we are all in it together. Please join your other ‘family’ members as once again, we figure out how to grow together!
