The Lion King

My talk this Sunday originates from the film, “The Lion King”. The film is based loosely on the book, "The Lion King- A tale of two brothers". The story is about Simba and his journey from cub to king. I have learned a lot as a result of studying the book and the movie. There are some valuable lessons in this story and I look forward to sharing those insights with you on Sunday. Our musical guest is Charles Holt who sang in the musical, "The Lion King" on Broadway. You will not want to miss this opportunity!

He has starred in some of the most celebrated and spectacular shows in American Theatre history such as Smokey Joe’s Café, Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Lion King. He received national acclaim and rave reviews for his multiple character portrayal in one-man stage plays, based on the lives of Richard Wright and WEB Du Bois. He along with fellow actor, Gerald C. Rivers, is currently touring Martin & Music, a ground breaking theatrical production on the life of Dr. King, the Civil Rights Movement, and the musical ties that served as the binding power that propelled the movement forward. Charles adds guest-starring roles in television and film to his credit, as well as extensive work as a voice-over artist. He tours universities spiritual centers, and correctional centers. He has addressed many groups and organizations including TEDx, Engaged Diversity Leadership Conference, and NCORE (National Conference on Race and Ethnicity).
On the music front, Charles’ debut album, I Am, garnered rave reviews and was followed by the new classic, Rushing Over Me. Charles has authored two books. His first, Intuitive Rebel, chronicles his journey from small town Tennessee, to the bright lights of Broadway, to his spiritual awakening that lead him into the path of self-discovery. Between Me and Dad, due for release April 2014, reveals a personal, yet painful account with his father that ultimately halted with a date with courage and a leap into faithful forgiveness and release. At his father’s passing and death, Holt uncovers a journey to self-love, proven by the power of reconciliation and compassion. At the greatest turn of release, he concludes that freedom stands on every front… for those who are forgiven and for those who forgive.
Charles lives in Los Angeles.
